Shootin', Singin', and Sleepless
Nashville was the first Regional to fill, so I guess there really is a correlation between country music and hardcore outdoors. Combining a trip to the CMA Music Festival and the TOC seems like a no-brainer to me, but I’m just small-town with simple taste. Shootin’ targets all day and listening to Jason Aldean rip it up at night sounds just fine.
The original Total Outdoorsman, Chris Nischan, and top five finalist Daniel Lee Martin, will try and use their experience to return to the Canyon. Chris guides both hunting and fishing, so a rod or rifle is basically an extra digit to him. Daniel Lee was the biggest surprise of last year. He shot the highest ever air rifle score in the celebrity event, finished second in the Regional, and had the highest finish of any rookie in the Finals.
The rest of the field will come from the South and the southern section of the Mid-West, so the “talent” won’t be just in the celebrity competition. Archery will be good, bait casting great, and air rifle will be out of this world. Well, that’s if the competitors handle the pressure from having to perform in front of a crowd.

Nashville was awesome! What a great contest..Thanks to all the Sponsors and FIELD & STREAM for a first class contest.
Who won the top three spots to head to Dogwood?
Dallas was great. New events and great competition. Cramer threw down the gauntlet. Oh yeah...he makes great salsa too.
I hate to hear that Chris Nichen and Daniel Lee Martin didn't make it through in Nashville. That must have been some tough competition to take y'all out. I sure hope we haven't seen the last you guys though. Y'all are first rate guys and are what the TOC is all about. I think I speak for many of the TOC competitors in saying ... It won't be the same without y'all. I truly think Daniel Lee could make the guards at Buckingham Palace laugh. Good luck to you guys and hope to see both of you soon.
Congratulations to the 3 new competitors that did qualify for the September fun in Dogwood!!! I look forward to meeting each of you.
Fair warning to all qualifiers going to Dogwood ... these guys must "have game".

hey brian i am begining to feel like you and i are the only people still checking out the toc page since regionals started everyone is gone.
Good luck to the guys competing in Mo. this week. I agree Brian, I do believe the TOC is going to be full of some seriously stiff competition. It's great! If you place well you know you accomplished something and worst case you got to see some really talented people do their thing.
LeoB - I'm sure the site is being checked out by others since the Regionals ... they just aren't chiming in with comments. Come on people let's hear from ya!
Jay M - I have a feeling we're in for a treat this year at DW.
true that not very many people have said or asked anything since regionals have started no one has said how the like the course or if they had fun competing
this was my first and definitely not my last competition. i competed in nashville. the course was awesome and the talent level was out of this world. i know the three from nashville will do VERY well in DG. counting the days till next year. Mr. Davis i had a ton of fun and want to say thank you to the sponsors and the field and stream staff for a great comp. Thanks Brian
This is a great competition, but it could draw a lot more of attention with a better blog, or web site. The comments are hard to get to and there seems to be very little commenting. If it were set up like archery talk, I think it would be better. Don't get me wrong, this event is awesome, but I never heard of it until this year. The sponsors would benefit from the added publicity and it would keep everyone interested. Anyone that has any suggestions on how to improve or promote this event, lets hear it.
Hey Guy's,
I've been checking in everyday but i was waiting for an update before i comment. I know John is extreamly busy right now and is probly almost burned out but i would have figured that somebody would update the blog. Once the qualifiers are done we will be able to get down to some good old fashion kidding.
All i would like to know is if anyone at the regionals were stunned at the mystery event. i compete in harrisburg in a week and have been trying to "expand my horizons" just in case something weird does show up.
All of the tasks in the skills event are easy everyday tasks, the key to it will be to not panic. Make sure that you make all of yours moves count, seconds will seperate 1st thru 10th places. Stay cool and you will do fine, panic and you won't. It's not something that you need to pratice. Good luck...
Well said Coop ... Shaf308 just stay calm and move through the course and like Coop said "Good Luck" to you and to all the competitors still to compete in Harrisburg, PA.
