Independence Wrap
Three more new faces are heading to the Canyon to try and stop Paul Thompson’s “quad for the quad” quest. Out of the nine invitations handed out so far, seven have gone to rookies. This year’s Finals will be like a Jack Russell Terrier race: some going straight and fast, some will get stuck in the chute, and someone will wander off to munch on a lost corn dog under the bleachers without even realizing there is a race going on.
Will Bond won Independence with a steady performance. He didn’t win any discipline, but never finished lower than seventh in any of the four. Being consistent is a great quality in the Finals.
John Sappington finished second overall. He won two disciplines, Air Rifle and Bait Casting, but had a little bit of a struggle in Archery. John came back strong with a four in Skills to secure his spot.
John Stanley grabbed third place with a win in the Skills discipline. He will have some work to do in the shooting department to contend, but two months gives John the time he needs.

Congratulations to the 3 Independence winners, can't wait to meet you guy's. John I think we need to work on the 4th trip for Paul, Quad for the Quad, I don't know Man, dosen't sound right.I know Man, don't knock it unless you have something better... Well I'm working on it.

All I know is that you better bring your "A" game to Mo. The field wil be tough. I'm sure John Davis has some tricks up his sleeve. I can't go to the site survey this year so John will be unchecked. You competitors may be jumping through rings of fire and having a hot dog eating contest before it's over.
Scout - I'm don't know about jumping through rings of fire but the hot dog eating contest or maybe pizza or tacos or doughnuts or even chips and hot sauce ... Count me in. LOL
I would think that you would have an unfair advantage in the salsa eating contest.
Coop,
Shoot me a e-mail.
John
Hey everybody, I'm gittin' ready for the Canyon in my own special way...got my back waxed, eyebrows plucked, little Botox work. Can't wait to see you guys again. And John, yer in my thoughts and prayers, buddy. See ya'll soon.....
Eddie
Ed - We're all glad you're getting all that work done ... but we hate to tell you - what you have listed is not enough work to really make you presentable on TV. LOL
Seriously - glad to hear that you'll be back talking us up and making us all look good. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in the Canyon. By the way I've enjoyed your articles in F&S this past year.
Eddie,
Good to hear from ya...you gonna make good on the invite to the shrimp boil?
And don't worry about beautification (yes, made that up) just stand by me...by then I'll be bald and ugly enough to make even E Matee look good.
Easy killer -
Your mullett wig is on order. You're going to make Billy Ray Cyrus jealous with that kind of flow.
Eddie - still owe you a banner. I'll have to hand deliver to Dogwood (a year late).
i think all you guys are ugly and without me the whole crew would be losers.
Easy there Scout take another look in that mirror. Now say these words "A face only a mother could love".
Hang in there ... it'll get better.
Hey guys I'm excited about making it to the finals. Can't wait to meet everyone. John your in our prayers.
John
Sean Hoernke and Mike Hawkes told me to tell you Hi! I am am excited about the competition! Hope it is fair I live in Branson! Check out my site http://www.johnsappington.com/
Look forward to meeting you there.....John
Hey JD - Doesn't Sappington have to fish with his eyes closed, one arm behind his back and he can only have one foot on the deck of the boat at a time. I think that would be a little more fair and I believe the other competitors would probably agree. I'm just saying ... LOL
John S. - I look forward to meeting you and the other guys in a few short weeks. -- B. Cramer
You must have seen Hawkes in person; he doesn't like them computer thinga-ma-jigs. Great guys, two examples of people I would have never crossed path's with except for TOC...now they are pretty good buds of mine.
Hawkes is even hard to get on the phone less you want to go deer or dove hunting!
I look forward to meeting everyone! Pretty neat deal, especially in my back yard..
John are we shooting Mckenzy targets? Deer, Turkey?
Just got my bow today it is a stud!! Nice.
I think we have every different brand on the market, including the little known "Unca Jimbo's uber-realistic 3D Chubacabra, with easy arrow removal". Mostly deer this year, with others thrown in to fit into certain situations. (Example; a javalina to that fits under briar thicket or has it's vitals just over a log, etc...)
Being the local is great in some ways (getting to fish, sleep at home) just don't get distracted with the "local boy makes good crap"...not really worried about you Sapp, Hawkes told me how focused and competitive you are, even said he would lay cash money on you being on the medal stand...High praise, buddy, high praise.
Pressure! I like it! I just wish the endurance challenge was about 50' instead of 300 yds... My body is beat up.. and extremely round!! I am trying to work off about 60# b4 the competition, I think I am going to have to sever a large limb to get there!! Can't wait!! John
John I added 2 more sight pins to my bow yesterday and they are the small pens, when I look through throws me off.. Can I put all smaller pins on, or do I have to leave the 3 original ones that came with the bow?
Casting plugs? does it matter what we use? We will b able to put our own lure/plug on when it is our turn to cast?
What brand of 22 shells will we b shooting?
Thanks John
Hey Sappington, the only casting we will be doing will have hooks on it, beat I can tell. No more throwing at hoops. I hope I can find those same pins at bass pro! I'm heading there after work.
Hey Jas74370, How do those R-55 shoot?
Fur Load!
Sorry didn't check post for a few days.. They shoot awesome. Thousands of rounds no jam's, nice gun!
