Together with some help from our TOC partner, Mobil 1, we've put together a “pick ‘em” contest where you can go and select your Total Outdoorsman Challenge bracket. Pick the top three competitors in the correct order and you can win a sweet Total Outdoorsman Challenge prize packet. Just a little information so you can fill out the bracket knowing what cards the competitors will have to play: Shotgun, Archery, Bass Fishing, and Fly Fishing all have the same format as last year—it all comes down to accuracy and catching the biggest fish.

ATV and Rifle, however, both have a new twists. The competitors will have to complete two skills other than just handling the Yamaha ATV around cones, turns, and up and down hills. They will have clear a trail of some pretty healthy road blocks with nothing more than a tow strap, and handle the ATV with either a utility trailer or an ATV disc. We will see if these guys really use their ATV for work or if they are just out joyriding.

The Rifle course will include a “bonus” target worth 1 point, along with an extra clip of 10 bonus shots. They can only shoot the big-money targets once every time it stands, but can fling lead at the bonus target anytime between when the first target stands until the last target falls. The bonus target will be a heck of a long shot, so I’m interested to see how the guys play it.

Endurance, which changes every year, is going to be fun to watch on the Outdoor Channel. The course will include knife throwing, blow darts, slingshots, thicket crawls, fish spears, and a few little tasks the competitors don’t know about yet. It’s going to suck the life outta some of the competitors and more than a few will walk off of it just plain, country mad.

There will be four or five with the chance to win it going into Endurance and a couple will just flat give it away. It’s going to be who stays smooth and calm, even when something goes bad, because the course is long and hard enough to make it up. And everyone will jack something up here.
